Defense. Defense. Defense.
Prevention is Key to Personal & Public Health
Protect your body from dangerous viruses without having to pay a co-pay for a doctor’s visit. At Lakeview Pharmacy, we offer customers the influenza, shingles, pneumococcal and TD/TDAP vaccinations with no prior notice. Patients can also get their meningococcal, HPV and hepatitis B vaccinations by making an appointment.
Types of Vaccinations:
Influenza is a serious and highly contagious respiratory disease that can lead to death. Let’s face it. We have an extremely long “flu season”. The best way to protect yourself from the flu is to get vaccinated every season. There are several different strands of the influenza virus, and we offer both the trivalent and quadrivalent flu vaccines to help protect you year round. Because the influenza strain changes every year, the CDC recommends all patients ages 6 months and older to receive a flu shot every year. Get your flu shot today!
We also come to community businesses if a group of 10 or more employees are receiving the flu vaccine.
This vaccine helps prevent pneumonia and is recommended for all adults 65 years and older. Adults younger than 65 years may also benefit from the pneumonia vaccine if they have risk factors including: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, chronic cardiovascular diseases, chronic liver disease, alcoholism, chronic renal failure and immunosuppressive conditions. Lakeview Pharmacy provides both Prevnar 13 and Pneumovax 23, both recommended for adults 65 years and older. This vaccine is available year-round. Consult with one of your doctors to see if you are at risk.
The US Center for Disease Control (CDC) suggests that those who are 60 years and older, or anyone who has previously had the Zoster virus, should receive this vaccine. Zoster is the same virus that causes Chicken Pox. Once a patient has the Zoster virus, it remains in their body and may resurface as Shingles. The Shingles virus causes a painful skin rash appearing as a band or strip on one side of the face or body. The vaccine is called Zostavax and is available year round.
The CDC recommends that both males and females between the ages of 9 and 26 receive the Human Pailloma Virus or HPV vaccine. Lakeview Pharmacy can administer this vaccine with a prescription from your doctor if you’re over the age of 18.
