Specialized Treatment for Chronic Conditions
Managing chronic conditions requires personalized care that goes beyond one-size-fits-all medications. At Lakeview Pharmacy, our expert compounding services provide innovative solutions for chronic conditions that may not respond well to traditional treatments.
Chronic Conditions Treated with Compounded Medications
Ménière’s Disease
Treatment for Ménière’s disease is possible with Lakeview Pharmacy. Believed to be the result of fluid build-up within the inner ear, Ménière’s disease creates extended periods of vertigo, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), and eventual hearing loss.

Currently, there is no cure for Meniere’s disease, but one popular treatment that Lakeview Pharmacy provides to nearly 100 patients every month is compounded Betahistine. Originally developed as an anti-vertigo drug in the 1970’s, Betahistine increases blood flow within the inner ear to help reduce fluid build-up. Currently, Betahistine is only available from a compounding pharmacy, so please complete the form below and one of our pharmacists will reach out to answer any questions you may have.

Blood Sugar Management
Metformin is a common treatment option for prediabetic adults, or those diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. While the drug has been FDA approved since 1995, and it is generally considered safe, many people experience gastrointestinal side effects including diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain. Additionally, most metformin tablets are very large, making them difficult for some patients to swallow.
Lakeview Pharmacy can compound a topical metformin preparation that provides the same treatment benefits without the common digestive side effects. Formulating metformin as a cream allows the drug to be absorbed into the blood stream through the skin. Typically applied inside the wrists, this delivery method normally requires less medication to be effective.
Gastroenterology
Compounded preparations are a preferred option to help treat many gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. Creating a custom formulation of anti-inflammatory and pain-reducing medications provides a treatment that is specific to your needs. This is especially valuable for pediatric treatments that require smaller doses than commercially available options.

Medications can be formulated as a capsule, cream, liquid, lozenge, or suppository to treat the following chronic conditions:
- Anal Fissures – Targeted healing and pain relief
- Acid Reflux – Customized gastric protection
- Crohn’s Disease – Anti-inflammatory bowel support
- Hemorrhoids – Localized comfort and healing
- Inflammatory Bowel Diseases – Comprehensive GI treatment
- Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) – Targeted antimicrobial therapy
- Ulcerative Colitis – Specialized colonic treatments

Podiatry
Many foot problems can be addressed through compounding medications. Formulating a personalized combination of pain relievers, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal medications can result in very effective treatment. Common problems that a compounded cream or liquid can help treat include:
- Arthritis – Joint pain and inflammation relief
- Athlete’s Foot – Antifungal treatment solutions
- Corns – Softening and removal preparations
- Diabetic Neuropathy – Nerve pain management
- Dry/Cracked Skin – Intensive moisturizing therapy
- Nail Fungus – Penetrating antifungal treatments
- Plantar Fasciitis – Targeted heel pain relief
- Poor Circulation – Vasodilating preparations
- Swelling – Anti-inflammatory formulations
Erectile Dysfunction
The popular generic medications are not a treatment option for some men who suffer from Erectile Dysfunction (ED). Compounding can provide a solution if you have allergy sensitivities or digestive issues.
We can create a dissolvable lozenge (troche) that contains the active ingredient in Cialis® or Viagra® without the traditional fillers. Placing a dissolvable lozenge under your tongue also delivers the medication directly to your bloodstream for a faster result.
