Megan Haapanen, PharmD

President & Owner

Megan graduated from Drake University with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and began her career working within large healthcare systems. Over time, she felt drawn toward a more personal, community-focused approach to care, and she joined Lakeview Pharmacy in 2009.

In September 2021, after some encouragement from then-owner Pete Ciaramita, Megan and her husband Matthew purchased Lakeview Pharmacy. Since then, she often says her life has never been more exciting. The challenges and rewards of small business ownership—and the ever-changing landscape of independent pharmacy—have deepened her passion for the profession.

When she’s not leading the team at Lakeview, Megan enjoys many outdoor activities including hiking, skiing and her most recent obsession: Rucking.

Matthew Haapanen

Finance Manager & Owner

Matthew received a degree in Economics from the University of Illinois, and he has enjoyed a career reset since owning Lakeview Pharmacy. The challenges that an independent pharmacy must endure keep his days unique and interesting, as does the goal to continue Lakeview Pharmacy’s legacy as a trusted healthcare resource for the Racine community.

Matthew enjoys spending time outside, including downhill skiing and unpredictable rounds of golf.

Debbie LoCurto, RPH

Compounding Pharmacist

Debbie graduated from University of Wisconsin Pharmacy School in Madison. She joined Lakeview Pharmacy over 20 years ago and has enjoyed being a part of the pharmacy as it has grown into the vibrant and modern business it is today.

Debbie was an integral part in the development of Lakeview’s compounding lab, and she remains our primary compounding pharmacist. She enjoys working with patients and their physicians to completely understand someone’s needs to ensure her formulations provide the most effective treatment. The ultimate highlight of Debbie’s day is when a patient calls to say ‘thank you’ for her help to improve a condition that common medications could not treat.

Laura Shanafelt, PharmD

Staff Pharmacist

Laura is a staff pharmacist at Lakeview Pharmacy with more than 12 years of experience in the field. She graduated from Butler University with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and began her career in a fast-paced big box pharmacy, where she gained valuable expertise in patient care and medication management.

Seeking a more personal approach to pharmacy, she joined Lakeview Pharmacy to focus on building stronger connections with patients. She values the time and attention Lakeview allows her to devote to each individual’s health and wellbeing, and she is passionate about making pharmacy care approachable and patient centered.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband, their daughter, and the family’s two dogs and two cats.

Anna Depies, PharmD

Staff Pharmacist

Anna earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Concordia University in 2017 and began her career working for a national pharmacy chain. She eventually grew tired of the corporate workplace and the impersonal environment that existed, and she started working for a regional grocery store. This provided an improved work environment, but it still did not provide opportunities to build strong personal connections with her patients.

Anna eagerly joined Lakeview Pharmacy in 2025 and has enjoyed building rewarding relationships with our patients as she helps guide them toward positive health outcomes. Working for a family-owned pharmacy has also allowed her to expand her role to include providing care to assisted living facilities.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, which mostly involves taking her kids to and from baseball practice and theater rehearsals.

Stephanie Peterson, PharmD

Staff Pharmacist

Stephanie began her pharmacy career as a pharmacy technician at an Illinois grocery store chain and went on to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Butler University. She continued working for the same grocery chain, eventually being promoted to pharmacy manager.

After a total of twenty-three years with the same company, and in search of the ever-elusive work-life balance, Stephanie joined Lakeview Pharmacy in 2025 where she enjoys the flexibility and opportunities that a small business provides.

In her free time Stephanie stays busy being mom to five young children.
